Since humans first began to walk upright, eons ago, they’ve been drawn to the water’s edge, and no wonder. The effects on our spirit are universal: the soothing, mesmerizing succession of waves rolling in from beyond the horizon, until they

exhaust themselves on the beach.

Those waves imprint their magic on the spirits from the earliest stages of our formative years. All you need do is watch the sheer, unadulterated joy of toddlers and little kids when they splash and run and squeal with delight as the

waves swirl around their feet.

Under the aegis of a newly formed imprint, Tiderunner Publishing, The Call of the Waves, as our initial  foray into children's book publishing, celebrates those themes. The story of young girl whose infatuation with the ocean leads her to a crossroads: the intersection of her own impulsive embarkation on a wondrous adventure, with the strength of a

mother’s love that draws her back home.

As a team, we are in the initial stages of pulling the pieces together. The story is written, the text complete. We have sketched out the flow and placement of pages. Rebecca is in the process of crafting the illustrations. She is a student of classic children's book illustrations and is a stickler for getting ours just right. Between that and maintaining her own inventory of paintings in two galleries, the process is, by necessity, deliberate and incremental.

Stay tuned for updates as The Call of the Waves gets closer to rollout.
